On 30 December 2004, Chinese Ambassador Wang Chungui met with Dato' Haji Salim Hashim, Deputy Secretary General  of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia. Wang once again conveyed the cordial sympathy of the Chinese Government to Malaysia for its loss of lives and property in the tsunami disaster. In order to help the afflicted people with their relief work so as to return to the normal life at an early date, Wang, on behalf of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia, donated RM 80000 to the Malaysian Government.
