Premier Wen Jiabao Leaves for Home after Visits to Russia, Tajikistan

On the afternoon of November 25, local time, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao left Dushanbe for home by special plane after paying official visits to Russia and Tajikistan, and attending the ninth prime ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tajikistan.

During the visit in Russia, Wen met and held talks with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and other Russian leaders. Wen and Putin jointly held the 15th regular meeting of Chinese and Russian prime ministers, exchanging views on furthering China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination. Both sides signed a joint communiqué on the 15th regular meeting between Chinese and Russian prime ministers and a range of bilateral intergovernmental and interdepartmental cooperation documents. Wen also attended the Fifth China-Russia Economic and Trade Summit Forum, the heads of government meeting of the International Forum on Tiger Conservation and presented the awards of Outstanding Contributions to Sino-Russian Energy Cooperation and the awards of Contributions to Chinese Language and Culture to the Russian personages.

During his visit to Tajikistan, Premier Wen met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister Akil Akilov. On the sidelines of the ninth prime ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Wen exchanged in-depth views and reached broad consensus with government leaders of other SCO member countries on the current political and economic situations of the region, how to maintain stability and security as well as the status quo and prospect of economic, trade and humanities cooperation within the SCO. Following the meeting, the SCO government heads jointly signed and issued the joint communiqué of the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the SCO Member States. On the sidelines of the meeting, Wen also held bilateral meetings with Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov, Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbayeva and other foreign leaders.
